IN WHOM DO YOU TRUST?

SCRIPTURE:  Prov. 3:5Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to your own understanding.

THOUGHT:  We all go through life trusting something or someone.  It’s either God or the world.  (Matthew 6:24)

Every decision we make we make trusting it will work out the way we desire.

  • Over the holidays we trusted our love one’s to get the gifts we wanted.
  • We get in the car, trusting it will start and take us where we desire to go.
  • Those we love, we trust won’t deceive us, they won’t let us down, won’t lie on us, won’t try to harm us.

The Bible tells us that we should trust in the Lord (Prov. 3:5).  We are instructed not to rely on ourselves, not to rely on our own understanding, our senses,  what we see, what we hear, how we feel, what we smell, or taste.  How many times as children our mothers encouraged us to take medicine that didn’t taste so good, that person who’s badly dressed, dirty looking–yet he’s a God fearing man, honest in his work clothes.  The thief, clean shaven, with $200.00 suits, wonderful cologne on, yet he’s a devil in disguise.  See! We can’t go with our senses.

As children of God we are to trust in the Lord, we are to have that Spiritual trust.  We are told in John 4:24 that God is a Spirit.   We must worship Him in spirit and truth.  This is a “Faith Walk” (2 Cor. 5:7), for we walk by faith not by sight.  It’s what we believe–not what we see.  You see, it’s our faith that sets us apart from the world ; what we believe in our heart (Matt. 17:20).  What’s in your heart is what guides your habits, your speech, your actions, what you do, what you say.  What’s in your heart will come out.

If you’ve accepted Christ as your Savior, then you do have the Lord in your heart.  Do you believe?  Then act on what you believe.  Do you believe?  Do you BELIEVE?  Then practice what you believe.  Trust God in all things.  Trust Him! Lean on His word.  Do the “BTP”– Believe, Trust, Practice  (See Luke 17:5).

PRAYER:  Thank you Lord for your Word.  Thank you for leading and guiding me that I can know by the power of the Holy Spirit to trust You in all things–to stand on your word and it’s promise.  Thank you Lord, I’m standing even when I don’t understand.  I’m standing even when the darkness looms over me.  I’m standing despite what I see.  I’m standing on you Lord, by faith.  I’m believing, I’m trusting and I’m practicing Your Word in my life.                                                                                                   Amen.  Amen.
